Columbus Merchants
The leading hitters for
this very successful 1949 season were Joe Tom Atkins(of), Ralph Rutan (c),
Bob Welmer(of) and the ever present Don Scheidt(3b). Now a maturing and
stronger team, the Merchants fared well against the strong Indianapolis
teams. The Merchants Won 6 of the 9 games played.
