1946 SEASON COLUMBUS RED SOX

Manager: Earl Dickey

                1946 . . .

Again in 1946 Earl Dickey was the Manager, Coach of the team who changed their name to

"The Columbus Red Sox".  Also, the team upgraded it's schedule to include several of the

Indianapolis Industrial Amateur League teams, (tsk - semi pro !).  With the stiffer competition

the team finished the season with 9 Wins and 9 Losses.  However, this extremely young team

caught the attention of these Indianapolis teams as they were warmly complimentary after

            close games.

Kenneth Dickey was again the leading pitcher.  He followed the learning trend of the team as a

whole with a record of 5 Wins and 5 Losses.  Von Boll joined the team and posted a record of 3

Wins and 4 Losses. Leading hitters were: Joe Henney (1b), Bill Herron (2b) another new face in

            46, and Don Scheidt.
