The 2nd Annual Columbus Historic Celebration

The 2nd Annual Columbus Historic Celebration was held in the Commons Mall on Saturday, April 14th, 2007. Thanks go to the Historic Columbus Indiana Committee Members, and Michelle Bottorff, Executive Director of the Bartholomew County Historical Society for heading up our Committee. There were over 40 tables of Columbus historical displays, plus many guest speakers and music groups. Because of all these dedicated people, the Celebration was a great success. We estimate a crowd of over 1,000 attended.

A Big Thanks to all who participated! Thanks to both Richard and my daughter for recording most of the speakers of the day. I will be adding clips from the Guest Speakers on this page in the near future, so be sure to stop back.

I hope you enjoy the pictures from our Celebration! (And the song on this page!)

The entire Historic Columbus Committee is excited about the prospects of getting the 3rd Annual Columbus Historic Celebration in the planning stages very soon. It is hoped that this Celebration, one day out of the year where we recognize our heritage, will continue to expand and grow beyond our wildest expectations...

Mayor Fred Armstrong proclaimed that Saturday, April 14th, was David Sechrest Day, in honor of coming up with the idea of having a Historic Columbus day.

Margo Hughey is recognized by Mayor Fred for all her hard work on this year's event.

Thanks for the memories everyone. It will be a day I will always remember...

It is sad to note that pictures were not taken of all display, nor were pictures taken of all speakers, and I apologize for this oversight.
